Opening scene location

The actual location for the mall scene was not the Del Amo Fashion Center. It was the Sherman Oaks Galleria in the valley. It's very obvious in the opening scene as well as others in the movie. The mall is not called Sherman Oaks Galleria today.

I thought the mall closed.It's also the same mall from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
