The way Randy talks to Julie is abusive!

When Julie breaks up with him at the door. He starts yelling and swearing at her! Throwing the F bomb at her! A big red flag! This guy doesn't respect her at all!

reply

Abusive? Stop being so "offended." He wasn't being "abusive." He was pissed because he knew she was full of it. If it was the reverse, and he dumped her for no good reason, you'd probably be cheering her for cursing him out.

reply

Yep, he was just calling her out on her BS. At that point, she deserved it.

Stuff like that was the norm in the 80's.

Andie did the same thing to Blaine in "Pretty in Pink" she even hit him a few times lol.

Exactly what I was going to say! I heard somewhere they had to put pads on Andrew McCarthy because he was getting bruised from all the takes of getting shoved against the lockers.

People were not easy to offend in the 80s, thank f*ing G** !!

You said it, Chewie! Back then, it was socially accepted to tell racist jokes, as long as you didn't tell them in front of anyone of that race.

Fer crying out loud. I saw the same banquet of bull____ on this thread http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084234/board/nest/166651943?ref_=tt_bd_4 and I have the same thing to say about this equally absurd thread. Stalking and abuse are used so loosely nowadays. She dumped Randy because her friends didn't approve of him. And I suppose you (and most women today) would expect him to blame himself or at least say, "I understand dear, I'm not mad". It's frustrating how much crap men are expected to tolerate from women nowadays. Thanks, feminists!

This is why I never got married. It could also be why David Lee Roth and Kevin Spacey never got married.

No, I suspect there's a much simpler reason that you never married.

Get some perspective, dude. It's absurd to suggest that men today are victims of some female-perpetrated injustice, or that you're in any way being oppressed by some mysterious cabal of all-powerful feminist usurpers. That's right up there with other xenophobic/misogynistic fallacies like the innocent White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, whose life is somehow diminished by treacherous 'welfare queens', or illegal immigrants, or some other scapegoated bogeyman who now live the high life.

As a straight man who was once an immature kid who thought it was hilarious to treat women (or females in general) more or less like crap, and that they could be always be dismissed, then flattered or patronized into overlooking any of our shortcomings, should they ever find any. But when you finally meet your 'better half' and find yourself living each day as much for her as you do yourself, you'll realize that we males, very generally speaking, have had the much cozier ride, to the extent that it's possibly true that we're actually too soft to put up with the cumulative crap they've been forced to deal with... That the average Western male lives in a world designed long ago to coddle him, to shield him from the consequences of his actions, which are instead to be felt by members of an unluckier demographic... And that he probably wouldn't last a day in their figurative shoes.

At least, that maybe they deserve the benefit of the doubt and that maybe their complaints could indeed be valid.
