I hope someone sees this post so I dont feel alone!!!

Basically all I wanted to say is that in 30 years of movie watching, across countless genres. Am I alone in thinking that this is easily one of the most powerful movies ever made. Maybe my feelings just stem from childhood memories. But i have yet to find a movie that once I watch it, its the only thing I can think about for days on end! No movie out there has such a long lasting emotional effect on me then this film! It is certainly a movie I plan to introduce to every child, niece, and nephew i have when they get to right age. I have yet to find anything out there that can truly explain what it is like to have a true friendship! I am in my thirties and there isnt a lot out there that I havent seen, all i know if anyone has a recommendation that can show me something more powerful then this then please do!!! But this is such a powerful job in movie making that its a shame that only a few people around the internet even now it exists. In this day and age where disney is buying rights and re releasing hiyao miyazaki films, can we maybe get a release that spreads it to the wide audience base it deserves. I know it recently got a DVD release, but once again unless your seaching for it, its not like it comes up magically. Basically almost every child should watch this to understand true friendship values and how important they can truely be! And if you dont agree i understand, please dont blast me on this opinion! I know this film has effected other people other than just myself!

I have no idea what this movie is about. I don't remember Unico at all... but I saw this DVD come in at work the other day, and upon seeing the couple of pictures of Lord Kuruku (I think?) I practically had my first panic attack!

It's a really odd experience... I remember scenes with Toby and the evil red ball thing (Kuruku). It's not even something I'd been like "hey, self, remember that movie where blah blah blah..." No, I'd simply blocked it out completely (probably for good reason), but it only took one picture to bring all the terror flowing back.

I'm also in my early 30s, and maybe I will agree that this flick is worth watching for everyone, but I'll have to watch it again first to see. Like I said, I don't remember Unico, or friendship, or anything... just hat evil red ball thing ("Toby... Tooooooooby..."). I am tempted to pick it up to show to my young nephew, so hopefully you're right about the overall flick... I'm just trying to mess him up like his Mom and I were (give them something to bond over, ya' know?).

I remember seeing this movie, but apart from the West Wind dropping Unico off at the new location at the beginning I didn't remember much of it until I recently revisited it. The first Unico movie actually stuck with me much more. All I can say is I'm glad I grew up in the '80s, back when kiddie flicks weren't afraid to get fairly dark.

I don't know if you're still checking this board, but I'm with you. I truly think the resolution scene between Unico and Kuruku is one of the most powerful endings out there. The message to take from the movie is amazing.

I realize probably no one is checking this board after several years but I would just like to say that I agree that this was one of the most powerful and memorable films, especially the ending. For years I just remember that ending about that big ball of evil sitting there slowly dying and Unico talking to him. I also remembered the origin story where he was an evil marionette. This definitely is a creepy film for children I think and I am glad I saw when I was young. Maybe it influenced me towards becoming a horror writer as it was definitely true that both 80s films and Japanese films were willing to go too much darker places for children compared to movies made today.
