See you in Thailand?

Near the end of the film Ed Harris says, "See you in Thailand" to Nick Nolte. What did he mean by this?

reply

There was the thought throughout Washington at the time that the US would still lose full control of SE Asia to the Chinese, as they did with Vietnam.

And this was when refugees from Cambodia and Vietnam were flooding into Thailand, there were a lot of US journos covering those stories.

Ed Harris' character was mercenary. He justs goes from war to war, wherever the money is. Nolte was a journalist who goes from war to war to take pictures, which was his job. Harris was simply saying, this one is over with, I'll see you at the next one (which he thinks will be in Thailand).
He's not fighting for justice of freedom and Nolte also doesn't care who is right, he just wants pictures.
Harris is actually insulting Nolte because, while he doesn't care, Nolte has shown that he does want justice to prevail.

A mercenary? I know it's never mentioned but Ed Harris portrays one of those thousands of so called military advisors the US sends all over the place when it doesn't want to involve regulare troops and declare war.
