Needs a Re-mastered Dvd

This is a beautiful looking film and deserves to be remastered. The Dvd that's available is non-anamorphic and pretty fuzzy, but it doesn't spoil the film.
I'd love to see it cleaned up and maybe have a commentary. Does Geoff Murphy do commentaries?

I would certainly purchase a (region 1) DVD if this was available. I do have some friends in New Zealand, I might have to ask one of them to pick up a copy for me next time they're on a trip to the states.

This was a great film. The themes of honor and revenge and how they can twist a man.

I spoke to the cinematographer of this film a couple of months ago. He is currently remastering UTU. It is taking a lot of effort as some of the original film went missing / and or damaged.
Unsure of when it will be available, probably some time in 2012, early 2013

Well that's good news. I hope it gets a decent release.

Your wish has been fulfilled. It has been restored, remastered and digitized. It is a bit shorter (109 minutes) and the image and sound is excellent. It is now available on region free DVD and Blu-ray with the title of 'Utu Redux'. For further details:
