I am surprised this doesn't get more heat for how many woke rules it breaks.
- it demonizes addiction
- tons of gay jokes
- the blackface scene
- most of the lowlifes are black
- gratuitous nude women
- casual use of the N word
- for some reason, most of the servants are black
- the "they certainly are musical people" line🤣

I love this movie, which ultimately is about bringing down white aristocracy, and done in a hilarious way. And to make it a Christmas movie is icing on the cake.

One of my fave comedies and just out on Blu-Ray (HMV Premium Collection) in the UK.

Mine should be arriving this week...I want it more than whisky!

The two biggest lowlifes were Mortimer and Randolph, and they were closely followed by that disgusting group of privileged white dicks that Winthorpe called his friends.

Billy Ray was a lowlife sure, but so was Winthorpe for that matter. They both became better people for knowing each other.

Mortimer and Randolph are villainous pieces of shit, but per the standard definition, they weren't lowlifes. Any song or movie that uses this term are referring to the lower class of society, as it is the common colloquialism.

It breaks so many woke rules because woke didn't exist then as it does now. The general attitude then was, "It's a free country. If you don't like it, don't watch it," which has devolved into "if I don't like it, I will work with others who agree with me to shut it down and cancel the careers of everybody involved in it and anybody who admits to liking it."

I was recently talking about Brewsters million in a Facebook movie group. I need to rewatch it. It's been 30 years probably.
