Love it when Valentine breaks the fourth wall as Randolph Duke kindly describes to him where he might find bacon. So subtle but perfect.

For all they knew, Valentine had the mind of a child, but Randolph at least thought that he could learn (hence the bet).
They learned later that Valentine was actually a pretty sharp cookie already, but they still couldn't let the long ingrained prejudice go - and it cost them dearly.
