Ellen Barkin plays 18 but was almost 30 when this movie came out

Much of the cast of Grease was far older than their teens, including Stockard Channing who was in her 30s.

By the way, Barkin looks a lot younger than 30 in the film, and even though there is only a 7 year age difference between her and her "mother" they look far enough apart in age to make an 18 year gap easily believable.
