Gazzara is tremendous

Ben Gazzara was an underrated actor who took huge, potentially career-killing risks in his choice of roles. This is the peak of that risk taking with Saint Jack a runner-up. You won't see many so-called movie stars taking parts based on alcoholic sexual pervert writer Bukowski. Sections of this film are close-to-unbearable and highly disturbing to watch. It's hard to believe this is the same voice of reason, good guy from Run For Your Life. The way the squalid, skid row sections of LA are filmed is beyond genius. Very few filmmakers have captured this side of LA (and they're usually European). Even the beaches look dirty and scummy, like an alien landscape. Highly recommended if you can handle it.

Why was he never interviewed by Lipton for Inside The Actor's Studio? Jack Black and Seth Green but not Gazzara?
