'Sorry Bob -- too early!'

An under-rated comedy classic that has some of the most quotable dialogue of any film: "Mister Honky Mo'-Fu'."

Matthau and Williams make a great comedy combo with Walter playing the Straight Man to Williams buffoonery.

Check it out!

I agree JohnC. My brother and I have loved this show since the 80's.
This is one that does age well and stands up everytime I watch it.
Some older movies, I have fond memories of, but then when I watch them now, I ask myself, "What the Hell was I thinking?"
Not so for Survivors. Classic all the way. Watched it today as a matter of fact.
Note the young and slender John Goodman at the Gun Show?

Favorite line: "What kind of man gives cigarettes to trees!?"

This movis IS a classic. I've been watching it with my dad since I was five years old, back in the mid-80's. Some of my favorite lines:

"A bird can't fire me, I'm upper management, a bird can't fire me... [reads paper] yes he can."

"You're going to the chair, pal! Then you're going to get my dry cleaning bill!"

"I'll keep him cops, you call the cover."

[covering Jack in the car] "Get your hands back, get back your damn hands!!!"

"Why you're at that, why don't you tell him about the mule that General Lee gave your granny at Gettysburg?"

"It's like Wes says: No man is an island, and some men are peninsulas."

"Wes actually had to eat one of his dogs once."
"On purpose?"
"Well, he was stranded without food. The good news was, he said it tasted a lot like squirrel; the bad news, well, Barney was his fastest dog."
"Not fast enough."

I suppose a movie will always match somebodies taste. I was ill today so i was glad this lightweight movie was shown. But I think it could have been way way better easily, like more ironic bits in it. PLenty of opportunities missed. Maybe that's because I am used to better acting by mr Hoffman. Maybe i was waiting for him to act different....

I liked that they exposed them survivor weirdos.

"Note the young and slender John Goodman at the Gun Show?" Missed that!
I was looking at the little woman at gun counter messing with the huge pistol. Then asks for a shoulder holster!
Couple people in that scene looked like New York based comics.
Scene at the cop shop when the old lady comes in about "I was accosted!". Williams snaps "What century was that?"
Think I may have been in that unemployment office. One NYC on Chambers St looked just like it. And back in the day it was just like it too. Packed to the gills with all types. Best learning experience there is.
Figured out fast I could work a week on and then off and collect. Just had to use right words and responses.
They went easy on creative types, not being 'owners' and all that.
"Fire a warning shot". pause "Just one!"

Excellent movie, I saw it for my first time about 2 years back, and I couldn't believe it was made over 20 years ago. Great humor!!

Favorite Line= "Jack?.... You're not going to believe this, but... I brought the wrong bullets."

I saw this movie at the theater when it first came out and watched it again yesterday on cable and I still laugh out loud every time. This is just one of those movies that I love. Walter Matthau and Robin Williams were perfectly matched and any movie that had Jerry Reed in it, is just fun. Definitely not everyone's taste but I think it is a classic.

Favorite scenes:

The parrot firing Donald
Jerry Reed robbing the diner
Jerry Reed breaking into Sonny's house
The shootout in the forest

CLASSIC!

I saw this movie at a drive in double feature with Blue Thunder. It never got the attention it deserves, people don't know what I am talking about when I bring up this movie. I have this movie on VHS so I can watch it anytime I want. I could own Good morning Vietnam or even the Odd Couple, both good movies, but the Survivors is a unsung classic comedy that I find funnier than the other two.
IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE, YOU ARE DEPRIVED!

"Wes says, shoot the radios, because without music, they loose half their will to fight."

Glad to see so many people love this movie. Defintely one of my favorite movies.

Favorite lines---The parrot: You wouldn't happen to have a peanut or a cracker or anything like that would you?
Donald: Sorry. Zip.

Sonny, upon finding his daughter watching a porn tape, reads the title of the tape in the dry way that only Matthau can get away with: When the West Was Wet. :D

Sonny, while deprogramming Donald from Wes's influence---Sonny: Wes is an a$$hole! Donald: Blasphemy! You'll smoke a turd in hell for that! :D

Love this movie. Just got it on DVD and am so glad to add it to my collection.

From the sign at the unemployment office:

"If you can't read English, please go to window 3."

"That's the way John Wayne would have done it."

"Time out, okay?"

*******************************
"Now get him out of here before I shoot him for trying to escape reality."

reply

My absolute favorite part:
"What kind of man gives cigarettes to trees?!"... (cuts ash off cig then cig) "Your not gonna kill me the slow way by leaving cigarettes in trees!"

reply

"That's the way John Wayne would have done it" .... probably my most used movie line EVER. My wife will even use it occasionally because she's heard it so much from me and she's never even seen the movie.

I tend to agree with everyone else's choices--there are just so many great one-liners---but one of my faves was one which is never remembered. I saw an interview with Robin Williams in 1982 (Letterman, I think) when this was in production. He said, "My character is like a combination of Mr. Rogers and Jack Nicholson. Welcome to the neightbourhood, but--don't piss me off." I never forgot that!
