Childhood trauma healed

As with many it seems, my childhood self was disturbed by the involuntary transformation of Vera into a killer cyborg.

Her agonised screams coupled with bits of metal clamping onto her, the opening of her eyes looking like molten lead, the creepy new hairdo, the complete disintegration of her personality… it really got under my skin and haunted my brain for decades.

Until today. I had no idea Vera survives 🤣 If I’d clocked that quick shot of her from above climbing out of the rubble (and listened to the dialogue about her going to prison) I could have saved myself all that trauma. I always saw it as one of the worst deaths ever, but she didn’t die!

It’s still a freaky moment but thanks to rewatching this as an adult the sting has been taken out of the memory. Richard Pryor on the other hand…
