Anyone know why Bradford Dillman's character was renamed from Capt. McKay in "The Enforcer" to Capt. Briggs in this film?

I was trying to figure that one out too. Personally, I think someone wasn't paying attention to detail. If I'm not mistaken, Briggs was the name of the cop-who-turns-main-villian in Dirty Harry's Magnum Force. They should have kept Dillman's character as McKay.

In order to honor the late Lieutenant, Captain McKay changed his name to Captain Briggs ...
