Carlyle

I didn't really get his character. Why was he so violent? Was is that he was feeling predjudice towards him because of his race? Was that the only reason? I was half asleep while watching...and I couldn't really hear everything he was talking about. What did he have against Billy?

I think it was David Allen Greers character who said it best. Something about he was just crazy

Carlyle was definitely a guy with issues...I also have to admit that I actually had difficult understanding what he was saying at times, which didn't help matters.

Yeah, I think Carlyle was just a loose cannon type of guy. That quality might have been exacerbated by his socio-economic background.

Agreed. Carlyle (Michael Wright) gave the best performance in a movie full of solid performances. His character was complex and sometimes contradictory but it always did seem true. I think he had a lot of issues, as the poster above wrote, regarding his socio-economic situation. Remember he was KP, and talked about his absent father and made many racial comments. I don't know if he was gay or bisexual, but I think his wanting to have sex with Richie was more about dominating and disgracing a pretty white boy. In any case, Wright was excellent.
