The 12-minute difference between VHS and DVD

Someone asked this question sometime ago, but no one responded. So, I thought I would try again. The stated running time on imdb and on the VHS copy of "Streamers" is 118 minutes. However, the DVD runs only 106 minutes. Does anyone know what is missing in those 12 minutes? That is a substantial amount of time to be cut from the movie, and it doesn't make sense as to why such unauthorized cuts would be made (Altman died in 2006, the DVD was released in 2010; that's why I say "unauthorized").

I would love to see this movie on DVD but not if it has been butchered. Does anyone have any knowledge/insights as to what's missing and why?

Thanks.

The DVD package is wrong. The DVD running time is actually 113 minutes. It's apparently a transfer from a PAL version with the 4% speed-up. Nothing's missing.
