Did they aver have a stage act?

I've only seen two Cheech and Chong films; Still Smoking and Up In Smoke. Up In Smoke was, to me, a straight out stoner flick. Still Smoking seemes to be half movie and half live show, and all skits.

Definately see the other films like Next Movie & Nice Dreams as they're more pot smoking movies and way better then Still Smokin'.

They started out as a stage act, yes. And did stage acts through out their early career, I believe.

It's actually the point to the entire movie. First half is their skits acted out on film, second half is their stage show, thrown together with an irrelevant plot.

Yes they did. Back in high school, my buddy and I were both photographers; he for the yearbook, I for the newspaper. He got passes to Cheech and Chong's show at GSU auditorium. I sat on the floor at one corner of the stage, he sat at the other corner. Got some great pics. This was shortly after the release of "The Wedding Album" and they did some stuff from that. There were a lot of costumes (Alice Bowie, Reverend Dike, Blind Melon Chitlin'). They did some of their skits from the first movie, "Up In Smoke"; the beginning of that movie where Pedro shines up his low-rider and drives around L.A. ultimately to pick up Chong dressed up like a woman (much to his surprise), and ended with the old man on the park bench bit that ends this movie. Live, Cheech wore the motorcycle vest worn by Big Bill Smith in the movie "C.C. and Company" featuring good ol' Joe Namath. They must have picked it up at a prop auction, or they knew a studio properties person that let them have it.

Guess I never read the post topic, but yeah they're a stage act, always have been, and still are (minus their time apart obviously from mid-80's to a couple years ago). They're on tour at this moment still doing their old bits. Pretty much "Still Smokin" is their "concert movie" of sorts, though they have a new one called "Hey, Watch This" which is from their current tour.
