Worse Sequel Ever

As a big fan of "Saturday Night Fever", I couldn't wait for this sequel. As it turned-out, this should never have been made. The story was horrible and almost no mention of the former characters was given. The dancing I didn't care for and there was not 1 memorable song.

I find your lack of faith, disturbing.

I have to agree with the OP. I'm a huge fan of "Fever" but I felt really let down by "Staying Alive". The worst thing about it for me was that I didn't see Tony Manero in this movie, only John Travolta all the way through.

I do believe "Graffiti Bridge" is the WORST sequel ever made. Totally letdown compared to "Purple Rain"

Wayne Enterprises buys and sells companies like Stark Industries

reply

"Teen Wolf Too" is the worst sequel ever.

SNF and Staying Alive are 2 very different movies, even though they are about the same characters, setting, subject matter, etc. I actually really enjoy both movies, but like I said, they are very different. If you watch Staying Alive expecting another SNF, you're naturally going to be disappointed. But as a stand-alone movie, Stayling Alive is fun and enjoyable, even with all its cheese. :)

reply

Exactly paul and i agree with you. I think everyone was expecting the movie to be another Saturday Night Fever but Staying Alive is a completely different movie all together.

Staying alive is a GOOD movie...but a bad sequel. There are worse sequels out there...someone mentioned Graffiti bridge?

"Hot Cocoa won't help, Mom!"-Charlie~FRIGHT NIGHT

reply

Caddyshack 2 or Weekend at Bernies 2 easily beat Staying alive as worst sequel!!!!!!
You must agree on that!!
Where did those two films rank in that famous 2006 article of 'worst sequels' ??

So you want a realistic, down to earth show that is off the wall and swarming with magic robots?

reply

It was so bad that I actually enjoy watching it. It goes into that category of film that is so bad that it's good (don't ask, i can't even figure it out myself!).

reply

Sorry, as long as the original negatives exist for films like "Arthur 2", Staying Alive is safe from being named worst sequel ever.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

Worse Sequel Ever?

No. Halloween Reserection, House Party 4 and Quantum of Solace (Bond 22) are the worst sequels.

reply

Not great. But definitely not the worst sequel ever.
