The film that would never end

I found a really poor quality VHS copy of this from some used goods shop years ago. I found it again last year and put it out to watch it and I watched it this week.

I must say that the previews at the start of the tape seemed more exciting than the film turned out to be. They had High Road to China, starring Tom Selleck.

Anyway, when the film began the most noticeable thing was the music - pure Lalo Schifrin! He did the music for Airport 1979 (the Concorde one) and it sounded almost the same. This was the only good thing about it, although it didn't sound as good as the other film.

The characters were terrible and the portayal of that annoying Aussie rocket controller had me rolling my eyes at his silly emphasised Australian accent (I am Australian).

The sub-plot about the marraige and affair thing is typical "filler" material to try and give Lee Majors something to talk about other than his piloting stuff.

The special effects were attrocious. Most of it was surprisingly very poor, considering John Dykstra did some of it. Maybe he only did some of the space scenes, on a very small budget, as I discovered it was a telemovie.

Don't bother with it. It's a very bad film.

Its a old ABC Movie of the Week , Its on THIS channel right now.
I havent seen in years . I just remember the Space Shuttle going
up in a few hours each time. To bad Jonathan Harris was not aboard
the movie could use his Smith routines . And the Shuttle astronauts
did not repair the rockets.
