Will this ever get an official DVD release?

As this was apparently only released to VHS (?) I was wondering, in case anyone out there with more than a passing interest in this 80s gem happens to stumble on this message, and assuming the rights aren't tangled up, what the odds are of seeing this on DVD are?

Haven't seen Sorceress so I don't know whether it's as bad as all that or not. OTOH if Troma can save a "sword-and-sorcery" flick like Wizards of the Demonsword from oblivion and release it on DVD I don't see why someone can't do the same for Sorceress.

I mean can it really be worse than that?

According to the SWTICHBLADE SISTERS LD extras, the film caused a rift between Jack Hill and Roger Corman when the legendary B-moive maven refused to supply money to complete ther special effects and released the film trimmed from 100 minutes to 83. Hill had his name taken off the credits and Corman replaced it with a pseudonym culled from the names of Corman's two sons. If it is bad, it's the first bad film Hill ever made.

I really enjoy this film. It is complete camp and doesn't take itself seriously.

The special effects aren't amazing by any means but it adds to the fun of the movie.

I have a very old rental copy of it so the quality is pretty grainy. But, this movie is definately worth gathering a couple of friends and a case of beer.

You'll find MANY great lines to quote from this one...promise.

A DVD would be rad.

Dear Affinius: Haven't heard of any such DVD release for SORCERESS at the present time.

If you're curious, though, it was released in the mid-1980s on the old Thorn/EMI Video label. I've got a copy of it. Fun movie. Someone also pointed out it doesn't take itself too seriously, either.

If you search for an original Thorn/EMI release of SORCERESS it should come in a mid-sized plastic case with insert artwork. Thorn/EMI didn't use slipsleeve boxes. If you see a copy of SORCERESS in a slipsleeve box it means a previous owner cut up the artwork.

I've seen (I think) a Thorn/EMI slip-sleeve at a Hollywood video. Kept an eye on their VHS sale tables for it when they started to get rid of their tapes but someone apparently beat me to it.

Anyone know if Sorceress ever made it to Laserdisc?

I was disappointed after seeing the trailer on the Switchblade Sisters dvd. I was hoping Rolling Thunder might release it, but no such luck. This is definitely one of those hard-to-describe movies that gained a minor but devoted audience in the early 80s thanks to the advent of video.

I remember that the twins from the movie has some big battle with the IRS over their dead sugar daddy's fortune in the mid-80s.
