The older guys who bullied Angela

Acted so unbelievably gay, theres the one scene where they're trying to convince the girls to go skinny dipping with them then one of them goes "Forget you then! comes on boys we'll have a better time without them" and they all go skinny dippping together without the girls.

Then theres the other scene where they're half naked on the cabin roof throwing water balloons at each other. Then the main guy of the bunch is taking a shit and when Angela cuts the window open he thinks its one of the guys peeking at him.

Lol sorry just had to bring it up.

I've never thought of any of that as "acting gay". If that were a bunch of girls that said we'll have a better time without the boys would that seem gay? Why would you be fully dressed in a water fight?

I think that it's really sad that if a man isn't always 100% super macho and always thinking about vagina, he's acting gay.

reply

If you don't think a bunch of guys going skinny dipping with no girls isn't gay i honestly don't know what to tell you....

And the water balloon fight, the main guy was wearing cutoff jean shorts that went all the way up his ass and was splashing other grown men with water, i don't think a guy has to be all macho to be straight but the shit in this movie was some really suspect shit.

reply

First of all the guys were probably saying that to see if the girls would still show up.

The way everyone was dressed in this movie is authentic for young people at that time. Almost everyone’s shorts looked like that.

reply

Yeah but not every guy had water balloon fight in those shorts with other guys. Plus they was like 17 or 18, way too old to be having a water balloon fight with other dudes, especially dressed in tight cutoff jean shorts.

reply

Dude, there’s no way that they could have known in 1982 that those kind of shorts would be the gay style in 2019.

reply

My thoughts exactly. That was the fashion at the time.

I'm really confused at how there is an age limit to water balloon fights. I think youtube has many "epic water fight" videos with adults. Sure those are super soakers and not water balloons, but it's still the same principal.

And do we think that football players that shower in a locker room are gay? Again, if a group of girls went skinny dipping together are they gay? Nudity does not equal sex.

reply

I’m in my 40’s and if someone had water balloons I would throw them at friends in a second.

reply

Exactly!

reply

It isn't a gay style now. Short shorts shows of a person's features. And, NO, I don't mean that in a sexual way either. Geeesh!

reply

Ok, maybe I’m not up with current style but somewhere between the early 80’s and recent history in the US short shorts fell out of fashion to the longer knee length shorts. I can promise you many gay men never stopped.

reply

Neither did many straight men, especially those who fished or did landscaping work.

reply

I’ve been a fisherman my whole life and I take care of acerage. Can you imagine wearing skin tight cut off jeans nut huggers working outside all day? No way.

reply

Got to admit, why or how were they comfortable for guys back then. I hated the tube socks.

reply

Also, these guys were wearing the shorty shorts while having fun, not to occasions like the movies, where Judy, Ricky, Paul, and Angela wore jeans. They didn't even wear the shorty shorts in the rec room either, just when water or dirt was involved. Also, did you catch the high socks on the guys? Now I hardly wore those of course I was within the age range of 6-9 in the early 80s but still man, they made my feet sweat as well as my mates.

reply

I agree with you about the kids in the roof. That was the style one the early 80’s.

me too

Uh, well, the 'gay' issue wasn't over-analysed to be in every aspect of kid/teen play in those days. It wasn't considered 'gay' to go swimming and play fight in the water with your buddy. It wasn't considered gay for two guys to go camping together. In the 90s and 2000s, this kind of activity was frowned upon because it was 'gay'. In the 2010's, gay people or so-called gay advocates made it a point to pick out 'gay' things in the way people act and go about their daily lives. Today, you must be gay if you are a male, live alone, and don't want female or male company. You must be gay in 2019/2020 if you wear a pink t-shirt. Bottom line, gay wasn't an issue in the 1980s or earlier.
