people should talk more about and give more respect and praise to part 2 and part 3 than this film

Why? I've never seen the sequels.
Update, watched part 2 and it's amusing but the casting sucks which kind of ruins the movie.

I wasn't that impressed. Fairly typical slashers, as I recall.

The first Sleep Away Camp was amazing. However, I enjoy the other two films and Return to Sleep Away Camp just as much. Never seen the survivor. I kind of consider Return to sleep away camp a direct sequel to Sleep Away Camp and then Unhappy Campers and Teenage Wasteland separate entities. I mean, it's still Angela but it's a lot more campy and cheesy. Not to mention hilarious. That's normally the kind of 80's slasher I like. So I do love them all.

Don't think so. The entire ordeal was basically a joke in two and three. Nothing wrong with comedy/horror but why do such a sharp turn from dark to light comedy.

Those movies were nothing like the first one, they ruined Angela's character with that over the top personality change, having her "punish" the other kids and delivering those cringewhorty lines on camera took away the suspense and mystery that made the first movie so good, it was turned into a black humor parody which in my opinion would have worked better if it wasn't named sleepaway camp at all.

I like all three films. The sequels are so much fun and definitely deserve more respect and praise than they get.
