Did I see the right movie?

everyone's reviews of this film talk about puppets and a deadly killer poison frog, and other supernatural elements, none of which I saw on the DVD I have. The DVD I have is the "Wu-Tang Clan Underground Collection Vol. 12". The DVD box says the film was directed by Yuen Woo Ping. However in the movie I saw was about a Japanese Samurai who came to challenge the Abbot to a martial arts contest. It's also about an escaped political prisoner who becomes a monk and takes revenge for the killing of his father. The monk's master at the temple uses a drunken pole technique. However as I stated before there were no poison frogs or puppets. Are there two different movies floating around with "Shaolin Drunkard" as the title?

I believe the first movie you refer to is "Heroes of the East aka Shaolin Challenges Ninja (1978)and the second is "8 Diagram Pole Fighter" from 1983. Both have Gordon Lui. Some of the best Kung Fu movies of all time.
