ruins scene filming location?

ok, from what i can gather, they did film in Italy around Rome, etc. But does anyone know specifically the scene where all the villagers are running away from the rescuers thinking they are the returning soldiers? They run up some pretty giant steps that look filmed on-site at possibly a non-descript ruin but it still looks awesome, and does not looked filmed in a studio that scene

Anyone got any ideas? thanks
