It was ok but the story was very poorly organized. Too many characters and not enough conflict resolution. They'd go in a certain direction and then abandon it almost immediately. It was really just a bunch of scenes thrown together with Carol and Annetta's fates interspersed. At least I got to see some breasts.

The Carol/Doreen issue is never really explained or properly resolved. I mean, I understand that Doreen has found a new girl, probably owing to her thinking she'd never see Carol again anyway but why all the excessive cruelty to Carol?

We don't really discover Kathleen's fate. Since Carol is alive then she why didn't she just say that it was Annetta who attacked her, not her roommate, Kathleen. Someone mentioned that she might have lost her memory after the attack and not remembered who hit her but if she remembered where her apartment was and where she had written the message on her wall that was under wallpaper, she would have remembered who attacked her. Yet we see Kathleen in a solitary room all distraught as if she was being punished for something. And how did Carol even get out of jail at the end before being re-arrested?

Haven't seen scum so i can't verify the rip off comments. I thought the plot progression moved in an easy understandable way though.

I also saw the Carol/Doreen issue easily explained. Carol and Doreen were once together. Doreen is shallow and devotes herself to her flavour of the month whereas Carol thought there was real unconditional love there. She had a poster of her and deliberately got herself sent to closed borstal just to be with her. By then Doreen had long forgotten about Carol and had pledged herself to another.

Two reasons for the cruelty to Carol. 1. Doreen needed to make it blatantly obvious to Carol that there was nothing between them anymore. 2. Doreen's new girlfriend would've needed 100% reassurance also that there were no feelings still there. So Doreen being the icy cold b*tch that she was, made sure she proved her love to her new girlfriend by being cruel to Carol.

When Carol first arrived, the new girlfriend came and scoped her out too. She instantly knew the new girl was Doreen's ex and was jealous and insecure from the start, despite her smug arrogance while eyeballing her.

As to Kathleen, the screw or counsellor, whoever she was, was talking to Annetta at the end and Annetta appeared to have admitted she was entirely to blame for 'what she did to Carol'. I don't think it was necessary for Carol to snitch. I'm sure Kathleen and Annetta had already cleared that up. I also think the last think Carol would've wanted to do was to snitch on Annetta. She already learned her lesson of what Annetta would do to you if you did that to her! I think Kathleen would've got a slap on the wrist at most for her involvement.

I don't remember seeing Kathleen in solitary. Sorry, i may have a different copy. (i thought while watching it that i may have had an edited copy, i thought the suicide or events leading up to that included some gross fecal displays/references yet nothing of that sort on my copy). If Kathleen was in solitary at all, i can only imagine it was very temporary and just after the event between Annetta and Carol.

I remember reading in a book that was like the 'resource' type book to the movie that Carol actually had day passes where she could leave for a few hours once a week unsupervised so they could gauge her reliability (with coming back on time and not getting into any kind of trouble etc) upon impending release.
