Is the DVD release really cancelled?

Nina's Discount Oldies has it in their latest catalog, but not on their website. Amazon.com lists it, but says it's discontinued. Were any copies released?

I've never seen this movie, and am just curious. Based on all the bad reviews I suppose I'm wasting time even looking for it.

It sounds like there is reason for hope. Screeners just went out and reviews are starting to pop up online. Word on the street is MB blew their release date but it will be out very soon. One site says 3/16.

reply

That's correct, actually. Amazon does that crap all the time.

reply

Now allegedly in stock at Amazon.

reply

Last night, Amazon had 5 copies in stock. I took advantage of that and the item is shipping soon. However, the site no longer has any copies which is strange. I have no clue what is going on but I hope the movie is worth it.

reply

Most would consider the movie terrible but I find it oddly enjoyable. Congrats, guys, we bought all of Amazons copies! I'm sure it will be back in stock soon.

reply

It's definitely out there to buy. I received it in the mail yesterday and watched the DVD last night!

The movie certainly won't win any awards, but I can't complain spending only $8 for the disc.

reply

Eight bucks? It's about twice that every place I saw it listed. Where did you order it from?

reply

I pre-ordered it on a Best Buy sale from late last year. They had Media Blasters DVD's 50% off, including a few pre-orders, and this was one of them.

reply

How good was the picture quality? I have a few DVDs from Media Blasters and they are decent. Some grain but far better than VHS copies. Is it in widescreen?

reply

The picture quality is decent enough. It is widescreen, and looks to have been sourced from a 16mm print. There's some minor print damage throughout, but understandable for a small film that's 30 years old. The DVD is probably about as good as it's going to look.

It's ready to be shipped on Netflix. I really hope it comes with commentary with one of the writers/the director so they will explain the ending.

Nobody can make me feel like *beep*

reply

I haven't gotten a copy yet but I have read that it does have a commentary.

Oldies.com has it but it doesn't show up when you search under the title at their website. If you search under the catalog number in their paper catalog, you will find it, but the catalong number is slightly different. One has the letters MB (presumably meaning MediaBlasters) and the other has SHKS (presumably meaning Shriek Show).

I purchased the DVD for only six bucks on the Internet. The disc itself was only two bucks. The other four dollars was for the price of the shipping, which means I paid twice as much for the shipping than I did for the actual disc itself!

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!
