So why exactly has this film been so influential to rappers?

Do they not understand that Tony Montana is not a character to be respected? Are they just too stupid to understand the point of the film? (It seems like a lot of people are).

Rappers are into gangster material. I myself understand the movie completely. I see it as an accurate portrait of a real louse.

Tony Montana alienates everyone around him and ends up getting shot in the back, who would ever idolize that. Even the guys mother thought he was human garbage. I know you understand it but these rappers seem to think that tony is cool and that wasn’t the point of the film

reply

Yes, theres no reason to idolize Tony. He's a perfect example of not to live a life that he did. Rappers on the other hand are warped.

If they wanna go full CUBAN, they should just cast Andy Garcia in the remake.

I’ ve been told Montaña will be played by either Oscar Isaac or frickin’ Diego Luna.

Either way...Hollyweird needs to knock it off with their remake/reboot trend.

Lord help us!

Shit choices but it’s a shit idea to begin with.

I’d rather those in charge greenlight “Godfather 4” with Gärcïä then make a shit version of Scarface that has no hope of surpassing the original in status.

Now im with that!

Working class guy makes it big. (Obviously, there's other ways to frame it that aren't so positive, but that's in there too.)

reply

Yes... They are too stupid and too adolescent as are most of their listeners... They get caught up in the glamour of the Scarface lifestyle, the money, the freedom and the women, but they are blind to how ridiculous and pathetic Tony Montana is and increasingly becomes...

In their adolescent world view, the ending seems like martyrdom rather than karma...
