After working through the various wikipedia articles about Confucianism (comments about the virtues from Turnbull's book "The Samurai and the Sacred"), I've got the following list:
Confucian virtues ordered by importance:
1. Jin=Ren - Humaneness, Benevolence (virtue of the feudal lord, principle of the Japanese crown jewel sword) - Shinbei
2. Gi=Yi - Justice, Righteousness - Sosuke
3. Shin=Xin - Integrity, Faith - Genpachi
4. Chi=Zhi - Wisdom, Knowledge (principle of the Japanese crown jewel mirror) - Keno
[5. Continence, Temperance, Austerity; not used in the film]
6. Chu=Zhong - Loyalty (virtue of the feudal retainer) - Dosetsu
7. Ko=Xiao - Filial Piety - Shino
8. Rei=Li - Proper Form, Propriety, Etiquette - Daikaku
9. Tei - Brotherly Affection - Kobungo
(Maybe the author Kyokutei Bakin of the novel "Nanso Satomi Hakkenden" used already this Kanji instead of that for Temperance.)
This list shows good agreement with the list presented in the wikipedia article about the anime series "The Hakkenden" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hakkenden#The_Hakkenshi
