6'4 Italian Stallion Vincent Spano Playing A Geek?

Vincent Spano playing a geek?? I do not get this casting. Spano is like 6'4, with dark, cool looking, Italian Stallion type looks. Granted they tried to downplay his looks. But still, why in the world would you cast him in that role. Spano is the type of guy that you cast to play the leader of the gang. It would have been so much more believable to cast a wimpy, pale, little thin guy like Matthew Broderick or 5'2 Emilio Estevez in that role. Just ridiculous casting.

He apparently was or is 6'2 (or maybe a little under 6’2 , idk). That’s not quite… 6'4. A big dude, yes, but not exactly massive, lol.

With that said, Spano does have “the look” and has effortlessly handled tough guy roles a bunch of times. But given that he’s an ACTOR, I'm sure he was pleased with playing someone that seemed foreign to him, if you will. For all you know, maybe he did audition for another part but ultimately was cast in a role that allowed him to show off his range. Or maybe that’s the role he signed up for all along! What’s more, being physically imposing (looking) doesn't necessarily mean one can F you up. That's really not always the case.

Anyway, perhaps it would've been natural for Spano to get cast as a tough and cool character in this film like in other films, yet just cuz he looks a certain way to you (seems like you got the hots for him, lmao), doesn’t mean he should only play specific roles. It’s called acting for a reason. So yeah, he played against the type in this film and he did a very believable job as a sensitive, socially awkward kid. Nothing wrong with him taking on a different role than what you’re used to seeing him as/prefer.

His casting didn't annoy as much as Rourke's silly subdued speaking manner. WTF was that all about?

Overall, I like this movie and its stylized approach about an irretrievably broken family. It definitely would have worked better as a series in modern times.

Haven't you ever seen a tall geek?

Secondly, Spano is 6'0½", which is a far cry from 6'4". This can be plainly seen in the movie when he's walking alongside Mickey Rourke, who's 5'11", and Matt Dillon, who's a little shorter. Spano was obviously taller than them, but he wasn't exactly towering over them.
