The music in until 22 seconds in sounds remarkably similar to Smells Like Teen Spirit

It doesn't bear any resemblance musically; not rhythmically, not melodically, the chord progression is completely different, etc.

Is is the exact same chords in the exact same progression, idiot.

It's one portion of bar chords but not the entire chord progression when you consider the entire song.

There are also dozens of other contemporary songs that have this chord but in different keys and with very different progressions.

Yes, I noticed that right away when I watched the movie, and I'm not a fan of the band. But people listen to music in so very different ways. That's why only a few of us noticed it. It's in the chord progression.

Probably. He was a fan of Matt Dillon and Over The Edge and chances are that he watched Rumble Fish too, probably more than once.
