John Glenn's re-entry scene

This scene is absolute magic. John Glenn's returning to Earth in his capsule, and the concern is will the heat shield protect him? Cue lots of worried faces at Mission Control. Inside the capsule, a nervous Glenn is humming The Battle Hymn of the Republic. We then cut to him in a ticker tape parade with his wife, Annie. Quite clearly, he made it. The Battle Hymn is being played on the soundtrack. The scene is so well edited it borders on Kubrickian ala 2001. Love it!!
