Back in the day, this movie was my Star Wars
I just thought it was the coolest thing ever.
It's still pretty fun.
When I was a kid there were two movies that I loved above all others: Revenge of the Ninja and Bloodsport. And Sho Kosugi and Van Damme were my heroes.
I can't say I still rewatch ROTN these days like I did as a kid but the film will always hold a special place in my heart. It made ninjas look so cool and I was convinced for a while that I would eventually run off and join a ninja clan.
It's a shame that we never get anymore ninja movies these days. I remember there was a brief uprising when Ninja Assassin and Ninja with Scott Adkins came out around '09 or so but it now seems like that was just a brief blip on the radar. The genre has once again gone dormant, at least in the West.
