Death of the Sarlacc.

Jabba's sail barge was floating above the Pit of Carkoon and was still there when it exploded. It would stand to reason that it was severely injured by all the burning shrapnel or was crushed to death. And if it was dead then it would stop digesting the contents of its stomach, and anything recently eaten would still be alive and able to escape.

I imagine Jabba would've probably would've left with his servants had the execution of Han, Luke, Chewie, and Lando gone as planned. It's only because of Luke using his Jedi skills to fight against Jabba's men that they survived. And that this fight they had delayed Jabba from leaving.

I think you misunderstood my question.

I was asking about the Sarlacc. Wouldn't it have been killed by the explosion of Jabba's sail barge, and the occupants of its stomach would have a chance of escape?

reply

I suppose it depends upon how a sarlacc eats. Does it really swallow whole live creatures directly into a gut for digestionm or are there additional fangs along the way down that slice the food as it enters, or a narrow passage that suffocates them on the way down? It doesn't seem likely that a sarlaac would survive long if it allowed live creatures to roam its innards. Also consider that if it is swallowing whole, live creatures straight into its stomach it must have powerful acid there, which would continue to break down its victims even after its own death.

That said, it would be nice to think that Boba Fett lived. He and Darth Maul are two ridiculously bad-ass villains that were given short shrift, with Fett's Wile E. Coyote styled death being especially galling.

I don't think the explosion of falling debris would kill it. Look at the size of the thing.
