I Was 15 when i saw this movie in a theater back in 1984 and i was really scared throughout the whole movie but at the end when i saw the supposed scientists destroying the rats i thought the remaining survivors are saved and i was relieved for a moment but at the final scene when it was revealed that the scientists were not exactly...humans I WAS FREAKED OUT and couldn't sleep with lights off.
So how did u felt about the ending ?

it may of scared me when i was younger, im 20, think i saw it when i was 13.
verry funny film, i didnt know weather the director was making the plot a comedy or horror. the ending did freak me out, pore choc, she gets gased by i rat in this "rats" and turned into a blood hungry demon in "Demoni"
I anticipated a twist, but I have to admitt that ratman was pretty eerie if it where remade today (assuming with better special effects)I know it wouldn't be near as creepy as that homemade mask. I think that the red eyes and the obsurity of the face probably hits some psychological level, well thats my guess.

also i think that ending made up for some much of the movie
in the rest of it
it is so obovious the rats don't care at all about the actors until they are chucked at them
i saw it coming. but that bizarre face is still a bit freaky, even today.

Brilliant! Completely ridiculous, hilarious, and abrupt. The woman thinks she is saved, then the man takes off his mask and reveals that he is a rat/man hybrid. Woman screams, roll credits. Awesome!
shareI actually kind of guessed the ending before the movie was over. I made the mistake of searching for pictures from this movie on Google Images once (I always do that if a movie looks interesting to me) and of course the human/rat hybrid was one of the first to show up. So the entire time I watched the movie, I was thinking "When's that rat-man I saw on Google going to show up?" Then when the scientists showed up onscreen and were wearing those masks, I thought "Oh, there they are." It's really too bad I spoiled what could've been a shocking ending for myself.

PLUS.....we must say this brilliant ending was made.....30 years ago (like the movie) so this gives it an even higher rating.....LOL
