The Real Tami Maida

Does anyone know what happened to the real Tami Maida after leaving the school? Did she play any more football and what she went on to do in real life. I also wondered how accurate the film was to real life.

I haven't been able to find any information but if anyone knows anything, I would sure appreciate an update about her.

Thanks!

Mary

I just strated doing my masters program at U of Newcastle on line which required we get the internet at home. I'm plugging away here tonight and just thought I'd punch in Tami's name to see what was out there and I came across your e-mail.
Well the one reply you received about what happened to her is accurate. I just read the e-mail to her and she says she can remember the game. Anyway she's still in Prince George with a full family of three boys. The older two tried football for a while but deceided they preferred other sports. I suspect it was mostly due to the fact that they play til late November when it gets to the -10 range. One son seems to have inheritted her arm as he has been ranked in the top 10 in the province for javelin for the about 4 years now. Tami gave up football but has started back at basketball and still throws the rocket.

Anyway if you have any questions let me know.

I don't have much info on Tami for the last several years, but I can give you a bit more about her after her year in Orgon.
She and her family moved back to Prince George, B.C. and Tami and her sister Kim resumed school at Kelly Road secondary. Both played on the basketball team, Tami as a guard and Kim as a forward. They both also still played football in a boys league, Tami as (surprise) the quarterback and Kim as an end.
When Tami graduated from high school, she moved on to the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, but knee injuries halted her basketball career.
I remember one basketball game I was scorekeeping at Kelly Road where Tami pulled down a rebound at her end, took about two steps and threw a football-type pass to Kim on a fast break. She threw the ball from about the top of the key. It went the length of the court, hit the end wall about 25 feet beyond the court and ricocheted back into the court. It didn't seem to have an inch of arc on it - it was a bullet.
I was talking to Kim after the game and she was very happy she had not tried to catch that one.
Hope this helps a bit.

I went to school with Jodi, Heidi & Gidget if that means anything at all. Don't know what happened to Tami or the rest of the girls but I'll tell you this... Kim, Jodi, Heidi & Gidget combined to bring my High School -- Prince George College Totems -- to basketball prominence in 1984 & 1985. These girls were athletic... and Jodi... if you ever read this... hit me up at [email protected] -- I'd love to hear from you.
