Yes, and apparently life with Lila was so miserable that he went to an early grave since he was still young and virile in the original movie.
The Lila character obviously grew very bitter and vengeful in the years that passed between the two movies.
Or maybe he just banged to death, you know, banging hot young Miles so much.
