Could you work alongside that nasty waitress, Myrna?

I'm looking anyone with a background in, psychology, psychiatry, social work, or anything similar for advice.

Waitress, Myrna, is so nasty to Norman and Mary in the greasy spoon diner and yet both are capable of shrugging her off and not losing their tempers. I frankly don't see how realistic that is.

How would you handle a nasty co-worker like Myrna? I don't even see her getting married to any man; every guy would run from her including me.

She throws one-line zingers at Norman and Mary:

"Hey queen for a day, how about waitressing some tables?"
"Do you still work here? How about getting my orders?"
"Do you want me to waitress your tables as well?"

Personally, I don't think I could take it. My experience tells me it's useless to complain to the diner owner, who has enough problems of his own since he doubles as the cook. His character seems to come straight out of that 70s sitcom taking place in a diner, ALICE. If Mary complained, the owner wouldn't help; he'd probably side with Myrna. The only recourse would be to quit the job and trust me, I've done that before because of hostile, nasty co-workers.
