How did Norman know (Spoilers)

That Emma Spool was his mother when she arrived at the house in the end

reply

Norman had an extra place set at the kitchen table when Emma Spool arrived. He told her he didn't know who was coming, but he was expecting someone. It was when Emma was sitting down at the table that she spilled the beans about the killings and her relationship to Norman. (Which turned out to be a lie in Psycho III.)

That is what I don't like about Psycho III. Turning the shock ending of part II around again, negates it's original intention. Part III, while somewhat enjoyable, is a pretty weird offering all round.

I just watched psycho 2 and will be watching part three soon. I am actually glad to read here that the mother twist at the end of psycho 2 is false because it messes up part of the story and mythology of the original Norma Bates. Also it's kind of disappointing to hear mother bates never killed anyone. To know she was not crazy in reality like Norman described her is a little disappointing. Then again what is very interesting is how Normans mother is portrayed in the show bates motel. While she has issues and is a major enabler she is in no way evil or psychotic. Do a lot of people here watch the show?

i watched the first series of bates motel and while i enjoyed it i felt the show had steered too far from the original premise-it was too much like twin peaks/desperate housewives than psycho.

I don't believe Norma Bates has killed anyone. At the end of the original film, the psychologist mentioned that he killed his mother and her boyfriend out of jealousy and also believed that since he was jealous of her, he assumed she would have been jealous of him, going as far to kill as well. Norma Bates abused Norman, physically and mentally but I don't think she was a killer. To me the whole "it's in his genes" thing was kinda *beep*
