Just saw it on 35mm!

I went to an all night mystery horror marathon and the owner of the theater chose this as the underrated sequel to show. He said he thought it was better than the original and asked us to not dismiss it simply because of the title. Which I will admit, I have always done.

Overall, I really liked it. I was expecting it to just be a entertaining *beep* show, but this film had a lot of merit to it. Anthony Perkins was excellent and very engaging in this film. I never once felt like he was making a fool of himself by being in this movie. He had some genuinely comedic moments too. He also was the victim in a sense, which was a very interesting direction to take a sequel.

The direction and cinematography was outstanding. It really felt like this was a Hitchcock film, and I was not surprised when I found out the director was a student of his.

The film actually kept me guessing! Bout 20 min in I was sure that (May? Mary?) was the killer and not only did the film bait and switch this at the end, but there still is a lot of mystery concerning who did what exactly. And that ending monologue was fantastic!

I am really happy to have seen this in theaters and just bought a blu ray of psycho 2. I will check out the other two as well.
