- 20 years between Rambo III (1988), and Rambo (2008).

- 19 years between Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).

- 16 years between The Godfather Part II (1974), and The Godfather Part III (1990).

- 16 years between Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983), and Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)

- 16 years between Rocky V (1990), and Rocky Balboa (2006).

Any others come to mind?

I think Bambi and its sequel are the winners, but here are a few obscure ones that I'm aware of:

- Blood Feast (1963) / Blood Feast 2 (2002) -> 39 years

- Astro Zombies (1968) / Mark of the Astro Zombies (2004) -> 36 years

- Corpse Grinders (1971) / Corpse Grinders II (2000) -> 29 years

Interestingly, in all three cases, the sequel was directed by the same person who had also directed the original.

the odd couple 1 & 2 1968 1998 30 years and same 2 leads. also franco nero is to portray django again so from 1966 to 2016/7 could be a record.

The Last Picture Show (1971) and Texasville (1990) 19 years

31 years between "odd couple 1" (1967) and "odd couple 2" (1998), starring the same actors in both, i wonder why they didn't get the card players back though. also adding to that its funny they managed to make "grumpy old men" with its sequel in a couple of years before "odd couple 2".

by the afternoon tea,
she threw me in the washing machine,
do you expect me to get cleaned,
by the products you use,
to have us joined in the laundry room,
machine dragged us in we were scrambling around,
afterwards suppose to feel fresh,
then why am i feeling dirtier than when i got thrown in here,
when she had had her fun time,
she hung me out to dry.

I wanted to thank everyone for the contributions to this thread. I didn't know there were so many movies & their sequels with such a long timespan between them. I would've thought that Psycho/Psycho II had the record, but obviously not.
