Why does this film always come up in Recommendations?

When I'm on a movie page on IMdb, and look at the recommendations at the end of the page, this movie very often comes up. Maybe every third or fourth movie I check out, this happens. Why is that? Is it something in it that encompasses all other movies ever made? I'd never heard about it, let alone seen it, before I started noticing that it was so frequent in that section.

Ha, I came here wondering that myself. Something fishy going on there.

'Cause it awesome!

Remember when 'Freeway' would always be the film popping up there; I guess this one took it's place.

Because someone (or persons) have added over 500 plot keywords. The Dark Knight, one of the most popular pages on IMDB (and the one that brought be here, lol) only has 395.

I expect that the keywords are one factor used when selecting recommended titles. With 500+ its going to to have a chance of coming up against any movie :p

There wouldn't even be a Hitman video game series or Leon the Professional without this anime. This anime pretty much made assassins a household name, just like how James Bond made secret agents a name that people can recognize. James Bond made it cool but Golgo made it work without the James Bond persona/personality ... simply by making Golgo 13 a framing device.. not a main character. The series isn't about him, but about villains and the other characters. He is the catalyst, the trigger finger, pushing the story forward. We are not supposed to be interested in Golgo, but in his plans.. how he takes out the target against seemingly impossible odds and how people are affected by his profession.

It's a classic movie, anime series and manga series. Its methodical, action packed drama. Thats why its recommended viewing. The sequel however, Queen Bee, was very bland and it was the first Golgo 13 related thing I watched. Luckily that didn't stop me from seeing everything else.

What it shows is those recommendations really don't work.

It's recommended to everyone, it's 30 years old, and still only has 1,600 votes to its name :-)

Probably because half of todays young population have an "epic" (as they call everything) hard-on for everything japanese, anime and emo. They love that *beep* and websites cater to it.
Seen it as recommendation on Commando. It made me laugh really good :D

I just watched it, because like others here I'm always seeing it as imdb.com's suggestion.
