I liked it!

Call me a dirty old man if you must, but I enjoyed this film. It is beautifully shot and the young women in it are gorgeous and not afraid to show off their natural beauty. The story is a little weak and the acting could be better, but if you like beautiful young French women, then you might enjoy this. My rating is 7/10.

I enjoy David Hamilton's pictures, and the way scenes often start framed or posed the way pictures would be.

Looking at the cast, I didn't recognize Emmanuelle Beart as "Helene" at all. While she's been in many things, most Americans probably only know her as Claire from the first Mission Impossible movie.

I remember the VHS tape of this movie sitting on the top back shelf behind the cash register at my local mom n pop video rental store. They didn't have an adult/porn section, but they did have a "mature" shelf that included this and Faces of Death.

reply

That's funny. It's pretty tame, really. Wouldn't be anything more than R rated.

reply

It's basically a Playboy Playmate type of film, but more focused on the female nude aesthetic than primal sexual innuendo.

reply

Sort of. I think the Playboy/Penthouse videos certainly borrowed from David Hamilton's style - beautiful women walking on the beach at sunset, wind blown curtains, flowing robes with sunlight silhouetting the body, etc. I'm not sure when PB/Penthouse started putting those movies out. But if someone watched THIS movie just for some nudity, they'd be disappointed. They could pretty much just watch the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes. There's not much other than that.

But I do really like Hamilton's compositional style for showing off the female form.

You naughty pervert!

reply

Of course you’re here with your exclamation marks celebrating your fellow girl lovers with this kind of movie. Was the OP by you before you hid your history by deleting your Allaby account in shame?

reply

Yes, this was my post. That is why I jokingly called the OP (me) a naughty pervert. And I didn't delete my account to hide my history and it was not done in shame. And in case you are concerned, I'm pretty sure the actresses in this film are all over 18.

You love to court controversy with this subject matter. You love to make provocative posts about girls and movies with naked children and teenagers. You’re the inevitable first poster on every obscure movie like this. Your posts encourage other weirdos who don’t even bother to stay on the fringe like you. Your goal is to ruin the reputation of this site by finding other posters who will join you in the free-for-all in commenting about movies that sexually exploit children. And then you cry to the moderators as soon as you get the reaction from the other brave few on MovieChat who are willing to risk the Moderator’s rebuke. You get people banned and deleted who reject you. You get threads redacted for criticism of you. You’ve been roundly rejected by friends and critics alike on two movie boards. And then you’re at it again 10 days later. I’m so sick of your bull shit

reply

You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't really care what you are sick of. I didn't get anyone banned and I don't control what other people post. If someone's post is deleted because it goes against the terms and conditions, that is not my doing. And I'm not at it again. The original post was from 4 years ago and someone else initially replied to it. I then made a joke about my original post. You are far too easily offended. As I recall, all the actresses in this film are over 18 and the film itself is relatively tame.

reply

You’re so pathetic with your attempt to re-write history after deleting your Allaby account. But I read your entire history. Your excited interest in puberty documentaries with explicit child nudity. Your separate threads crying to the Mods about how people were dogpiling in criticizing you on your weirdo posts about elementary school girls in bathing suits. You can manufacture all the fake “I don’t know what you’re talking about” bull shit you want. You are universally excoriated by even friendly people on this site every time you return to this subject matter.

reply

I'm not interested in discussing any of this with you. Feel free to put me on ignore if my posts offend you that much. No need to reply to me any further. Good day.

The director's Wikipedia page -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hamilton_(photographer) -- replete with its almost inevitable segment on sexual assault allegations.

How about some of his photo books:

The Young Girl (1978)
The Age of Innocence (1995)
