Is this movie as awesome as the trailer made it?

I saw the trailer for this on 42nd Street Forever (a great DVD, cult movie buffs should definitely pick it up) and it looks like its a helluva good time. Who's seen it?

I saw this trailer about 15 years ago on Rome Centurion Fighters when I was about 10, it was always a dream to watch this movie, one of the best trailers I've ever seen, and now 15 years later I will make it complete.

It is helluva good time. Sure, if you apply even tiniest bit of such irrelevant thing called "logic", the movie just falls apart. But it's fun action movie, and it achieves something that is quite rare these days: It never gets boring. Deodato isn't even trying to hold his horses with Interceptors, quite the opposite. When Atlantis is rising from the sea, and the survivors are fighting off biker gangs in destroyed city with napalm molotovs! and firearms, my smile could be seen all the way from Jupiter.

If you have any chance to see this, do it!

. . . no. but it is awesome. and a deodato picture! there's so much going on in the movie it makes for excellent trailer fodder. i too noticed the trailer on 42nd street forever and was pleased when the picture showed up on the grindhouse experience volume 2 collection. if you watch enough of the grindhouse/'70s sleaze eventually you end up seeing the movies in the trailer compilations. when they advertise: "coming soon to this screen"--it often is very true . . .

"this movie will rock your balls off"

That should be on the DVD cover!

this movie was worth the watch. they dropped the entire budget on guns... the final escape was left to the dialog as you will see... but worth it

This moviue is actually worth pirchasing the Grindhouse Experince Volume 2, even though that set is full of HORRIBLE transfers. This movie is one of the most entertaining I've ever seen.

I saw this movie last night on recommendation of a friend, and I was very entertained throughout. Good gore, fun action, and most of all a very original story.

7/10

Well, let me put it this way, I screened this flick grindhouse style to a group of around 12 people 2 years ago (complete with another feature, The Last Dragon, and several b-movie trailers that I threw in to complete the experience).

To this day people are still quoting lines from it and every once in a while people will bring it up in conversation ("Remember that time we watched that one *beep* up *beep* movie with....").

I say get as many people together as you can fine, download some awesome *beep* trailers like The Sinful Dwarf and Ninja Terminator off of Youtube (and while you're there grab some drive-in advertisements and maybe a few bumpers), arrange them all on a dvd and go to town. I use my PS3 and just line all the video files up and hit play, easiest way to put something like that together.

It's even moar awesome. It's an absolute hoot from start to finish with a cracking pace. It's on youtube now and is well worth checking out, if you like tacky Italian cheese.

"Hey, look at that! She's not crazy, she's being chased by a cheetah!"

I consider this among the very TOPS when it comes to junkfilms of the color era...and I watch a lot of these things, searching for obscure gems like Raiders. You can find my gushing review at: http://www.manoronmovies.com/RaidersAtlantis.htm The pic's worth a look just for the spit-take you'll do when you first see the goofy headgear on the lead heel.
