Hey :0) I have the DVD uhm, region 2, since I'm from Europe. Anyway, uhm, I don't think you can play region 2 DVD's on a region 1 machine. However since computers are the same worldwide :0) And there's no actually set region encoding in the hardware, it's easy to mess with it :0) So like, there's cracks on the Internet and software you can pay for that will play all region DVD or you might mess with the settings in your computer to make it think it should be playing Region 2.
All this being said, I never tried any of these things, except telling my DVD player software on the computer to set it to region 1. But, I could only do this 5 times in a legit way, meaning everyone can. So if you have a DVD player in your computer, and have a normal DVD player in your living room on the TV, you might consider setting the computer to region 2 and play region 1 on your TV. Hope these tips might do you some good.
Have a nice day,
Grtz. Kenny
