about dvd release?

When is someone gonna release this movie on dvd? A lot of people have been waiting for this movie to be released on DVD for years. Warner Brothers did it in 96' on vhs! They did not seem to have any trouble with it then! Why is it such a stretch to do so on DVD Now?

reply

I've had it on VHS since 1988 but when I watched it today the sound was not good so I'm totally with you on that DVD release.

reply

Count me in! I saw this in cinemas and loved it. The sound in theatres was Dolby Stereo and really thumped... so a nice DVD release, perhaps with remastered 5.1 sound and preferably jam-packed with extras would be much appreciated.

Or even a stripped down version with nothing but the movie...

VHS is getting hard to find anymore, and I can't get my hands on a copy.

reply

one of my favorite movies, I had a good copy on vhs once...long story.

reply

Amen; I rented this movie on VHS back in the 80's; would love to get a DVD. (Especially since a lot of VHS releases are disappearing and not being replaced.)

reply

Hi do you still have the dvd ?

Among my circle of movie watching friends, scoring a DVD copy of this movie would be a real coup. If one is available for a reasonable price, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat. This movie was a VHS staple of our group movie rentals for years and I know exactly what the reaction would be if I just popped it in to the DVD player without a word and just hit the play button....

RELEASE IT ON DVD! Also in Norway!

I'd like to see an unedited cut on DVD. Since it was a mini series I want to see the rest of it, and please include a seperate track for the music score!! I can hope for the best but, I beleive this will fall on deaf ears. =(

reply

This movie was never a mini-series. That's a false rumor that for some reason is growing on the internet and it needs to be stopped. It was made to be exhibited theatrically and nothing more. No one ever shot a TV production in 2.35:1 Techniscope as that format was designed for the big screen and wouldn't even fit on an old 1.33:1 TV screen without being letterboxed or pan & scan.

This should actually be good news, as you can say with confidence that you've seen the full length version.

reply

The best thing is to make a petition for launching the film on dvd.

reply

How do we do this? This is one movie I would fight for! I have never done anything like this before.

im in! this movie was a huge part of why i love fantasy and knights today and if i could get ahold of it on dvd today i would be like a child on xmas ..

The DVD is available. I bought a new one on eBay but the DVD is in 4:3 pan & scan (it's not even widescreen 4x3).

I only bought it to see Barbara De Rossi nude. The movie was a little boring. It takes places during the Dark Ages and there are some historical inaccuracies. Granted this is a fantasy movie so it takes many liberties. I would have enjoyed this more in 16:9 full widescreen.
