Portrayal of India as glamorous with hot blondes

Wealthy blondesque models, who did not seem in danger, in this 1983 film
bearing in mind many recent international news reports of rape epidemic in India?!?!

I think the scenes in question were set in Goa which is a highly affluent part of India so it's not surprising that you might see glamorous women and flash cars as much as you might see them in Malibu or Monaco.

There's a moral to this story Del Boy but for the life of me I can't find it!

it seems to be rapey in India lately. and the women all turn into trolls when they reach the age 18. Sure, you get the Bollywood hotties, but for everyone of the Bollywood hotties, there 1.5 million trolls who smell like slumdogs

Persis Khambatta... she was quite sexy with long hair (most people only know her as Ilia in Star Trek: TMP), and she had incredible gams. She would have made a nice addition to the story, and could have replaced Wayborn perhaps.

Persis was so good-looking she was still beautiful with a shaved head.

One of very few women who can pull-off the bald look.

The thing is the year before, the film Ghandi won all kinds of awards. So India was very much in the news so this film tried to capitalize on it

India was a gutter shithole back then, and it's a gutter shithole today.

As a comment stated, there do exist highly affluent parts of India, and considering both Kamal Khan and Octopussy are wealthy individuals it makes sense they would generally be in luxurious surroundings.

Also, the "blondesque models" reside on an all-female island and work for a criminal organization which teaches them how to fight.
