Rick the Rocket should have been murdered

That guy was a smug son of a b*tch. He should have been murdered. What a weasel. The ending sucked. Whore wife got off easy, scummy stripper boy got off easy. I hate movies that have build ups for people to get their JUST DESSERTS and they end up...... OFF THE HOOK as the great Dennis Green would say.

It's be a while since I have seen it, but he probably did die. After all, the husband blew a hole in the boat where he left Rick. Probably drowned and the gators dined on him.

He let him live. The husband said the line. I may be a jealous husband but I am not a murderer.

There's still no proof that he got back to civilization. He had like four or five holes in the bottom of that boat. And even if he could paddle and bail water at the same time, he'd spend the night being eaten up by bugs....

So we don't get to see what happens to him. Does he get back? And if he does, what happens when he presses charges on the husband for kidnapping (if Hubby could see him on the security camera at the elevator door, then the camera on the ground floor saw him hustle him out at gun point)?

Or more to the point....what happened to Redhaired girlfriend who was in the shower with him? They get out of the shower together after Faye finds them, she's wrapped in a towel...Rick says he's leaving....

He left with the girlfriend still in the hotel room with Faye? Did she just disappear because she wasn't important to the story anymore? Did she press charges when Rick disappeared after leaving the hotel room and was never seen again? WTF?

Last night, I was lying back looking at the stars and I thought...where the *beep* is my ceiling???

reply

She was last seen at the club and she asked about him.

After the warnining shots, the husband said "I'm pissed but I'm not stupid." (Or did he say "I'm pissed but not crazy"?) One or the other. But he did not say the word "murderer." (Just watched it on FOX MOVIES minutes ago.)

reply

Ok you got me on semantics. But my point is that Rick was not murdered and I felt he got off easy.

reply

"Hey kid, I'm just pissed off, I'm not crazy"

I saw it last night as a 35mm print here in NYC. Could have swore myself he said murderer, but when I watched it on youtube just now the quote above is exactly what he said. Of course, there could have been multiple cuts of this scene, but it could be faulty memory as well!

Murder him for being a smug son of a b-itch? That's no reason for someone to be murdered necessarily. And I'm glad that the film makers don't just murder their characters off to please cynical misanthropes seeking sensastion such as yourself.

I don't agree that Rick and Faye deserved to die; Faye tried throughout the movie to connect with her husband, to comfort and encourage him after his job loss; he paid her back by pushing her away and ultimately (or so it's implied)having an affair with one of their friends. Rick was smug but he seemed to have a good heart, and--as he told Whitney--what he saw in Faye was a lonely woman in need of attention.

Feminism is the "radical belief" that women are people, and should be paid and treated equally.

He was stranded on the Blue Lagoon for most of his life, I'm pretty sure I knew how to swim back to civilization.

You sound like a complete psycho, dude. Get some therapy. Advocating murdering some guy for having sex with a willing woman, or throwing words around like whore, make you sound like you're straight out of the Old Testament, complete with rock in hand. Life's too short to be that angry and filled with hate. Get some help.

What the Hell? He was hardly a "smug son of a bitch." His character was 21 years old; he was just a typical young guy living his life. What guy hasn't had 'sexy teacher fantasies?' At 21 he could hardly understand that his actions would cause the woman so much pain. He handed all of his earnings over to his hard working mother, plus he was working side jobs to pay for his own education. as far as his career, stripping is something many normal young people do to get by and pay their bills. No, he wasn't a bad guy, and he didn't deserve to die. In fact, the husband doesn't even confront his wife about the affair in the end, because he realizes that his own actions were the cause of it. By shutting her out, he basically pushed her into the other guy's arms. If he didn't alienate her like that, the affair would never have happened. And the wife was ANYTHING but a whore. She was a very decent woman overwhelmed by everything happening in her life.

Well let's hope this user didn't commit a mass shooting in the 11 years since this post.

Woah... did you bump this and Mario Bros because the posters are similar?

Nope. Sheer coincidence.
