Never Say Never Again 2

Obviously there wasn't any talk of a NSNA sequel as apparently Connery found it a horrendous experience and the rights probably wouldn't have allowed it (another McClory remake of Thunderball was announced in the late 90s but obviously nothing came of it)

But if they'd done a (non Thunderball remake) sequel for around Xmas 85 (with Moores View to a Kill in summer as with 83) or summer 86 (inbetween Moore/Dalton) wonder what could've happened..

E.g. Connerys Bond is once again recruited by M after 00 agents are being assassinated and 007 is next in line. Bond begins his search in New York, going to Italy, and Switzerland, leading to startling confrontation with a familiar enemy.

Sean Connery- Bond
Linda Hamilton - Bond girl (CIA agent)
Rutger Hauer - main villain
Bridget Nielson - Bad Bond girl
Dolph Lundgren - henchman
Sharon Stone - victim bond girl
Max von Sydow - Blofeld
Edward Fox - M
Pamela Salem - Moneypenny
Alec McCown - Q
Bernie Casey - Félix
Pierce Brosnan - agent 006
George Lazenby (cameo) - unnamed British 00 agent killed in the opening
Michael Caine (cameo) - unnamed MI5 agent
Ursula Andress (cameo) - unnamed former flame of 007

Director Richard Donner

Title - "James Bond Returns"

reply

Not bad Bozo.

I'd watch.

Certainly sounds like it would of kicked the ass out of some of what was to follow.

They say Connery was up for donig it but apparently there wasn't enough Grecian 2000 in the world to complete the project.

reply

thanks - rejigged the cast abit (post Terminator Linda Hamilton as the main bond girl, little known Sharon stone in the victim girl part)

btw I guess this would qualify as something of a NSNA sequel:

Great cast choices

reply

Thanks

maybe they could've even done a 3rd one in 1988 that would've formed the 'Never Say Never' Connery trilogy

reply

Obvious part 3 would go by the monicker Never Say Never Again... Again and Again?

Or maybe the slightly more tasteful. Never Say Never Again... Period.

To be followed by an all female spin-off called Never Say Never Again... Period Cramps.

Oh how we laughed.

reply

Never Say Never Again Again 

reply

And don't forget Never Say Never Again goes forth*

*with acknowledgments

reply

At some point, the title would be, "Never Say Never Say Never Again."

reply

Or perhaps just "Say Never."
Great casting choices, OP. Esp like director choice.
NSNA gets alot of flack but it isn't among the worst. It is tied with that large group of Bond films that are in that below average category. It is nowhere near as bad as Die Another Day or Diamonds are Forever.
