Never heard anything about the horse dying. Especially on big budget films like this.

While the "jump" effect itself was terrible (I'm talking about the scene with Bassinger and Connery screaming - awful bluescreen or whatever it was), the horse falling into the water was REAL. In fact, I recall reading this movie forced future productions to put a disclaimer noting that no animales were harmed in filming.
shareDefinitely the best part of the movie. First thing I thought was "Dang JB just said F the horse!". LOL. Can horse swim? I hope not. Makes for a better James Bond moment if it did die.

That would be absolutely horrible for a beautiful horse to die just for the sake of a couple of minutes in even a James Bond film!!!
I know traditionally in movies the lives of animals were sacrificed for realism; but No.....it would not have made for a better James Bond moment!!

The British censor cut the scene when it was released, which just makes the scene look badly edited.

I hope the horse did die! Horses are stupid and don't deserve to live.

But I was rather shocked because it was a long way down and would have traumatised it. But I don't know if it really jumped or if it was a special effect.
