Much as I like this film, they got the season wrong.

The snow melts between early and mid-April, according to Tyler's background narrations. On April 16th, most of the snow has melted and it's clearly warm. In the next scene, on May 3rd, there's absolutely no snow, and no ice on the lake. Snow is most unlikely to melt in the Arctic in April - it typically melts in June, and even in the boreal regions of Canada, snow and ice linger well into May. The book got the seasons right. I wonder, why hasn't anyone seemed to have noticed this inaccuracy?
