I started watching this movie with a friend one night. When it got to the rape scene I had to turn the channel. After all these years, 23 to be exact, I still remember the horror and brutality.

I saw this movie when I was 13 years old, and remember almost nothing about it... except there was an implied hot lesbian scene in which Pia acted disgusted with herself later.

I wouldn't mind seeing this again, but I feel like it might be a waste.

I remember seeing this on cable and laughed my butt off. There were so many unintentionally funny moments like trying to pass off Pia as a High school student, Ray Liotta and that garden hose incident, and Lloyd Bochner. This should be a classic right up there with Plan 9.

Ditto here. I PAID to see this turkey back in 1983, and still find it to be one of the most, uh, breathtaking film achievements that I ever shelled out money to see. I was absolutely completely mezmerized by the shear stupidity of this thing. It's the ONLY film to date to contain a rape scene that made me laugh (sorry, but "Where's Poppa?" doesn't count), and when a supposed-to-be-brutal rape scene makes you laugh, you KNOW the film is in trouble.......but WHY won't they put this out on DVD? I'm telling you, people are missing out on a truly unbelievable experience.........

reply

I would love to have this film on DVD, along with Butterfly, the other lost classic. The real mystery is how Ray Liotta ever managed to have a career after this - his acting was even worse than Pia's.

Revenge is a dish that best goes stale.

It's possible considering it was a small part. Of course there are others who have had similar embarrassing roles yet still managed to have a decent career.

Jeff Goldblum played one of the rapist of Charles Bronson's Daughter in Death Wish(74). I think he even spray painted a symbol on the scared woman. Then there was Lawrence Fishburn who participates in a gang rape of a maid in Death Wish 2 that was deemed so graphic that it was often cut from most releases. I also remember in the movie The Sentinel (77) where a young Beverly D'angelo (though clothed) masturbates in front of a guest. Then there is Tom Berenger who played a psycho gay man in Looking for Mr. Goodbar.

I'm sure there is a lot more.

The DEUCE BIGALOW movies are masterpieces compared to this.

This is one of my 10 worst. I give Nothing But Trouble with Chevy Chase, John Candy, Demi Moore and Dan Akroyd as the run away winner for all time worst. The Bigelow movies are Best Picture caliber compared to this and Nothing But Trouble. Actually, this may be Best Picture caliber compared to Nothing But Trouble.

This one is truly atrocious, on every single level. Since I seem to be one of the lucky few owners of a DVD of the film (as well as a VHS copy), I know the film practically by heart...and I can attest that it is absolutely one of the worst ever. The ACTING! Ray Liotta is TERRIBLE in it! EVERYONE is terrible...Bibi Besch (whoever SHE was) delivers, perhaps, the worst performance of all, as Pia's over-wrought mother. Just putrid.
