Norris vs. Carraine...for real

I heard once that during the filming, Norris and Carradine got into it for real. Supposedly, Carradine refused to go along with the carefully choreographed moves that Norris wanted to use: "I've done this, okay? I know what I'm doing!" Norris allegedly got so disgusted that he said "That's it," and threw down.

Anybody else hear about this? I take it with a grain of salt, personally, but it is an entertaining rumor.

reply

It does mention in the trivia that Chuck warned him for kicking too hard, and Carradine has always struck me as an arrogant prick, so it wouldn't surprise me if he'd been trying to prove he was tougher than Norris.
As for a real fight breaking out, I doubt it; I refer you to the evidence that nowhere on his biography does it say David Carradine ever had his spine pulled out through his nose.

reply

Well, Carradine isn't a real martial artist. Chuck Norris is. I HIGHLY doubt that rumor is true, and if it is, then Carradine is foolish and got his ass kicked.

Forgiveness is between them and God. It's my job to arrange the meeting

reply

I believe Norris said it best:

"[Carradine's] martial arts is as good as my acting"

reply

He didn't really say that, did he?

Because David was the real actor .

i thought carradine was a real martial artist.my mistake.nonetheless chuck would've killed carradine.

I met Carradine at a convention, he was singning for Kill Bill 1+2.
And I asked him if the rumors were true that he and Chuck did'nt get along during the filming of Lone Wolf.
Carradine replied that it only was a publicity stunt just as Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren did for the release of Universal Soldier.

This happen to be my favourite movie.
Love the score by Francesco De Masi, and I think Chuck was brilliantly cast in this movie and does a pretty good job acting to.

LMFAO! I almost spit my coffee on the screen. That struck me as really funny.

reply

Hmmm, karate champion vs former dancer ... I really doubt Carradine was suicidal at that point in his career.

Carradine does have some martial arts experience from being trained for Kung Fu. Norris on the other hand is a martial arts expert. So I'd give it to Chuck in a legit fight.

reply

Interestingly enough, Mr. Carradine DOES have some formal martial arts training. "Carradine actually had no knowledge of martial arts prior to starring in the series Kung Fu, but developed an interest in it after this experience and has since become an avid practitioner." According to Wikipedia.
Also, "On November 24, 1968, Chuck Norris won the Professional Middleweight Karate champion (non-contact) title, which he held for six consecutive years". I personally have taught martial arts since 1984 and have found one thing to be true... Never, EVER let it go to your head.

reply

Wow, you were precognitive, by almost 2 years, in saying Carradine being not yet suicidal, well, accidental-suicide, in 6-2009.

ArchxStanton, I'm reading between the lines of your anecdote and I can only draw one conclusion: David Carradine raped you, didn't he?

Carradine was a professional dancer up until the Kung Fu series which is when he developed a real-life interest in Kung Fu. Lone Wolf McQuade was filmed in '83, so Carradine had a lot of time to learn "some" martial arts. If you read Carrdine's biography you'll discover that even though he lived in his Master's Dojo for a period of time, he didn't take life seriously enough and was forced to move out.

Chuck's stunt men on LWM allegedly took several hard knocks from Carradine, harder than usual, and reportedly told Carradine to back off, that if he did that with Chuck he'd get his arse kicked. This is verified in the Trivia section: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085862/trivia

Although they traded blows at the end, the reason McQuade resorted to blowing up Wilkes with a hand grenade is because Carradine had a stipulation in his contract that his character could not be defeated in hand-to-hand by Chuck's character.

Although I've never met Carradine, having read his very own biography, I can believe reports from others who say they have and that he's an arrogant pr*ck.

This is what happened: David Carradine was hitting stunt men during the movie and they warned Chuck Norris that he might hit him during the fight scene. Before the fight scene Chuck told Carradine that he could do contact (to make it look realistic) but not to hit him in the mouth because he needed say his lines. What do you think the first thing that Carradine does?? ... he hits Chuck smack in the mouth. Chuck gave him one shot to the ribs/liver and then they had to wait a few minutes for Carradine to get up. There was no 'fight'. FWIW, Carradine is a total putz.

This is the real story straight from Chuck Norris.
